Olympus Endoscopic CO2 Regulator UCR

It has long been recognised that abdominal pain is a common
post-colonoscopy complaint, arising from distension by insufflated gas.  Carbon dioxide has been successfully evaluated as an alternative to air for insufflation, and is reported to give less operative and post-operative pain.1, 2

More recently, the benefits of carbon dioxide for reducing pain after ERCP have also been reported, suggesting carbon dioxide should be the standard gas used for insufflation.3   Carbon dioxide is absorbed approximately 150 times quicker than air to reduce distension and related pain.

Key benefits of using carbon dioxide are:

  • Improved therapeutic accuracy – less patient movement during endoscopic procedure
  • Improved pain management – patients experience less distension-related pain
  • Significantly reduced patient recovery – improved workflow

The Olympus UCR has been designed to provide a regulated supply of carbon dioxide for insufflation of both the upper and lower digestive tract and is compatible with all EVIS 240 and EVIS LUCERA 260 video endoscopes.

Key features of the UCR are:

  • Multi-disciplinary
  • Reliable & simple operation
  • Compact design – minimal space required on your endoscopic workstation
