With the introduction of Olympus diathermy-compatible flexible bronchoscopes, the use of electrosurgery becomes a cost-effective alternative to laser treatment in the respiratory tract. |

A variety of electrosurgical EndoTherapy devices is available for use in conjunction with Olympus fiberoptic and video-bronchoscopes, including coagulation electrodes, snareas and hot biopsy forceps.
Electrosurgery offers certain advantages over laser therapy, including a lower level of smoke generation, allowing better visibility and less patient discomfort. Diathermy equipment is also much lower in cost than lasers, and is portable, requiring less space in the procedure room. |

FD-6C/7C Hot Biopsy Forceps Exclusively designed for transbronchoscopic applications, the FD-6C and FD-7C are equipped with large cups that allow fast, efficient collection of tissue using high-frequency cauterization. These instruments can also be used for regional resection of tumors.
The FD-6C is suitable for use with Olympus diathermy-compatible bronchoscopes having channels of 2.6mm and above, and the FD-7C may also be used through 2.0mm channels. |

CD-6C Coagulation Electrode Haemostasis is achieved through heat-induced coagulation. The electrode may be used in a similar manner to a direct contact laser to cauterise the surface of a tumour a little at a time.
The CD-6C is suitable for use with Olympus diathermy-compatible bronchoscopes having channels of 2.0mm and above. |

SD-7C/18C Electrosurgical Snares This snare was developed exclusively for the use in bronchial applications. Two sizes of loops are available –23mm (SD-7C) and 13mm (SD-18C) – to allow the loop to be matched to the size of respiratory tract tumor.
Both models are suitable for use with Olympus diathermy-compatible bronchoscopes having channels of 2.0mm and above. |

KD-31C Needle Knife Specifically developed for tissue resection in narrow lumens, the KD-31C knife tip is spatulate in shape, to allow the flat side to be used for effective cauterisation should the need arise.
The KD-31C is suitable for use with Olympus diathermy-compatible bronchoscopes having channels of 2.0mm and above. |
