Video Pleuroscopy
The new Olympus LTF-260 pleura videoscope is an exciting addition to the respiratory range of products, providing a simple and minimally invasive method of performing Medical Thoracoscopy under local anaesthetic for diagnosis of unknown pleural effusions.

The LTF-260 has been designed with the Respiratory Physician in mind, optimising the advantages of both rigid and flexible endoscopes; the insertion tube is rigid and shorter than a bronchoscope to enable smooth manipulation in the pleural cavity and the two-way deflectable tip enables the user to achieve better observation and manoeuvrability inside the tight thoracic cavity, allowing observation from a perspective close to frontal viewing, an approach that is difficult to do with a rigid scope.

Familiar handling - the control body of the LTF-260 has an identical design to an Olympus bronchoscope, which means that handling is familiar to those who already use Olympus bronchoscopes.

Treatment capability - a large 2.8mm diameter channel enables various treatment options, such as biopsies, aspiration of pleural effusion and spraying of anaesthetic while maintaining the endoscopic view.

Compatibility - full backwards compatibility allows connection to existing Olympus EVIS video systems, ideal for performing both bronchoscopy and pleuroscopy in the same setting

Autoclavability - compatibility with steam sterilisation ensures maximum sterility

Optimal observation
- a distal CCD provides the outstanding image quality that is synonymous with Olympus, while an automatic light control function maintains optimum brightness, aiding diagnosis.
