Air leaks of the lung, a common complication post lung surgery, can be a significant and costly complication. Conventional approaches can result in additional complications, prolonged hospitalisation, restricted ambulation, significant pain and increased costs.

The IBV Valve is a new treatment option that limits airflow to damaged tissue, which may promote healing.  Earlier resolution of air leaks may result in earlier hospital discharge, reduced incidence of associated complications and reduced need for additional surgery.
